Geomancer Mile

Using a geomancer mile (a.k.a. megalithic mile- see internal link below) in antiquity was fairly common. From England to China usage is apparent in the landscape. The number Fourteen thousand four hundred in many guises including feet haunts all kinds of places. The number finds its home in the 3 x 3 magic square. Perhaps what many do not realize is that the number 14,400 is prominent in the geometry of the 5 Platonic solids. First of all, where did 14,400 come from? Answer: Arithmetic derived from the 3 x 3 number square. Clicking on the internal link will take you thru the process. Regularity marks the five Platonic Solids. Start by adding together the number of degrees in each of the geometrical figures. We have another example of the 14,400 number used in the geomancer mile which was taken in a forgotten past by feet.

  1. Tetrahedron contains four triangles. 4 x 180 degrees = 720 degrees.
  2. Octahedron holds eight triangles. 8 x 180 degrees = 1440 degrees.
  3. Icosahedron holds 20 triangles. 20 X 180 degrees = 3600 degrees.
  4. Cube is frame by six squares. 6 X 360 degrees = 2160 degrees.
  5. Dodecahedron contains twelve pentagons. 12 X 540 = 6,480 degrees.
  6. Add together the the total of the five sets of degrees = 14,400. Our geomancer mile took this figure in feet in antiquity. Numbers reigned supreme, especially when and if they were derived at from magic squares.
    • 720 + 1440 + 2160 + 3600 + 6480 = 14,400
