Hebrew Megalithic Yard – To work with fractions it’s necessary to find their common denominator. What is Common Denominator? A fraction has two parts – a numerator and a denominator. Any arithmetic operation such as addition or subtraction involving two or more fractions is possible if the denominators of both fractions are the same. To understand the Hebrew Megalithic Yard, Letters once doubled as numbers. The root letters of “Hebrew” ( ayin-v-r) means to pass, cross, traverse, undergo.” These three letters double with the following numerical equivalents: Ayin is 70, “v“, or veis (beis) is 2 and reisch (“r”) is 200; so, 70 + 2 + 200 + 272. Abraham is called “the Hebrew” (ha-‘ivri) because he came from “across the river” (Euphrates).
The word Hebrew and the megalithic yard both use 272, when defined by feet: 1 megalithic yard = 2.72 feet. Those numbers are 30/11 = 2.727272727….This might seem insignificant but thirty is five times six while eleven is five plus six.
